Finance Tracker is a mobile application that simplifies personal finance tracking. It allows users to log transactions easily, monitor general expenses, and keep tabs on money owed to them or outstanding debts they owe others. Crucially, the app automates intake by integrating a background notification listener that captures incoming deposit and transfer notifications from banking apps (e.g., automatically logging a deposit when a bank notification is received), saving users from tedious manual entries.
Manually logging every daily transaction and tracking peer-to-peer debts is tedious, leading to forgotten logs, poor compliance, and inaccurate tracking of personal cash flows.
Building a robust, local notification listener that parses unstructured SMS/push notifications from different banks with high accuracy, while ensuring absolute privacy by keeping all financial data offline-local.

Engineering
Utilized native Android/iOS notification listener services coupled with regex parsers. Built the app offline-first, storing all parsed transaction history in a secured local SQLite database to prevent exposing private banking data to external servers.
